As we approach Global Steamoji Day and celebrate our 5-year Anniversary, March has been a blend of productivity and nostalgia here at Steamoji HQ. Back in 2019, we opened our first Academy in West Vancouver BC, and now, five years later, our Academies span across Canada and the US, marking our official international presence and continued momentum in STEAM education. Our journey has been fuelled by unwavering dedication to our core values: Exploration, Collaboration, and Problem Solving with a Growth Mindset. Here’s to five more years of success!

In celebration of Global Steamoji Day, which honours the birthdate of the grandfather of the modern maker movement, Leonardo da Vinci, all Steamoji Academies are hosting Open House events.
This year’s Global Steamoji Day holds extra significance due to it being Steamoji’s 5 year Anniversary! Celebrate with us, find your nearest location here.
I’ll be at Kerrisdale and Coquitlam Academies, offering an exclusive peek behind the scenes of our franchise operations. My schedule is as follows:
-9:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Steamoji Kerrisdale
-1:00 PM – 4:00 PM: Steamoji Coquitlam

We’ve received numerous inquiries regarding the premium training and support we offer to our franchise partners. In response, I’ve invited Alonso Molina, our dedicated Success Partner, to address some of your queries.
What is a ‘Success Partner’?
“My job is to help franchise partners succeed. In a way, I like to think that the franchisees are business partners that I work with to adapt operations and strategies to their local community needs.”
What is your experience with Steamoji, what led you to join the company, and what experience do you bring to the table?
“Currently, I work as a Steamoji’s Franchise Success Partner. However, I joined Steamoji as an Academy Director for one of the corporate locations. Over the last few years, I gained valuable insights that helped me understand and optimize the day-to-day operations of a Steamoji Academy.
My professional background encompasses roles within academia and operations across various startup ventures, including entrepreneurial endeavours of my own. This diverse experience has afforded me a comprehensive perspective on the value of the Steamoji Build to Solve Curriculum and its business model whilst optimizing our operational processes and maintaining the expected high-level educational experience.”
Can you share insights into the training program offered to new franchisees at Steamoji?
“New franchisees go through a very thorough hybrid training program with asynchronous learning as well as online sessions culminating with real hands-on in-person training in an actual Steamoji Academy. Aside from the normal operational training, our franchisees get trained in everything there is to know about Steamoji and what makes it unique; from our tech-systems and apps, to our structured and reinforcing 400-hour Build to Solve Curriculum.”
What are the characteristics of the top-performing franchisees?
“The most successful franchisees are deeply engaged in their business, actively participating in day-to-day operations or providing strategic leadership, while establishing transparent objectives and standards for their team. They are community leaders; dynamic, proactive individuals who take decisive action. Joining Steamoji with an Academy is not just about entrepreneurship; it’s about embracing a fulfilling journey where dedication and hard work lead to abundant rewards. Let’s work hard, together, to unlock the full potential of this venture.”
What is your most rewarding experience at Steamoji?
“Witnessing families succeed is truly inspiring. I see couples and partners working together in their new venture and getting through our Fast Track to 60 Program with flying colours, often including their kids or extended family as part of the journey of entrepreneurship. Consequently, they witness a good and robust business that not only sustains their family but also ignites a ripple effect of positive change, transforming their community through their Academy as a vibrant hub for STEAM education.”
